Why was my vacuuming delayed today?

My vacuuming was delayed today because I decided to indulge my son's sense of curiosity. After he watched me remove and unclog the dirt canister on my vacuum (I was being lazy and sucked up something I shouldn't have that wedged in the canister), he got all excited looking at all the tubes and seeing how it worked - if you suck something up off the floor it goes in here, then up here, then shoots into here and spins around and around! Hey! Mom! Don't put the canister back on! I want to see if it will suck up this bead and shoot it out of here!..... Hmmm..... Should I say no and go about my housework or should I indulge my son's curiosity in seeing how things work and have fun conducting an experiment? ... It would be kinda cool seeing it shoot little gold beads across the room.... Okay. So we proceeded to try sucking up beads and getting the vacuum to propel them across the room (with the kids safely on the bed and out of way of any oncoming projectiles). It was pretty cool trying, then trying to figure out why it didn't work, and figure out where the beads went since they disappeared in but never came out, finally finding them wedged in with the air filter. The ultimate conclusion: Dyson must have seen people like us coming and built their vacuums in such a way as to prevent projectile experimentation!!

Now off to finish my boring housework!

Kid Quote of the Day

Jared: Mom, can you cook my clothes for me?
Mom: Cook your clothes???
Jared: Yeah, so they will be nice and toasty!

(interpretation: during the school year I always put his sweat pants and sweat shirt in the dryer on HI so they were nice and toasty. It was the best way to get him up and out of bed in the morning without a fight.)
